DEPARTMENT OF TAXATION, SAIHA DISTRICT

   
ESTABLISHMENT : Taxation Unit Office, Saiha was opened on 1st April, 1994 and the Unit Office was upgraded to Circle Office on 25th September, 2000. The Superintendent of Taxes is the head of this Circle Office.

LAND & BUILDING : Land was donated by Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) , Saiha at Meisatla under No. MADC/64/L & R/98-99/65-66 dated 28/4/98 measuring an area of 2886 sq metres. Three Staff quarters – Type-III (1 no.) & Type I (2 nos) were constructed therein. These quarters were occupied by Taxation staff.
NATURE of Works Collection of Revenue.
Nature of Duties : To enforce -
1.The Mizoram Value Added Tax 2005 with Rules.
2. The Mizoram Sales of Petroleum and Petroleum Products including Motor Spirit and Lubricants Taxation Act 1973 with Rules .
3. The Assam Amusement and Betting Tax Act, 1939(Adopted in Mizoram with Rules.)
4. The Mizoram Societies Registration Act, 2005.
5. The Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 & Central Sales Tax (Mizoram) Rules.

The Superintendent of Taxes and its Staff sacrifice their efforts for collecting VAT which is one of the main sources of State income. Due to hard-workings and continuous service , Taxation Saiha achieved tremendous success and ranked one of the highest Tax collectors comparing other Districts in Mizoram.
